As federal politicians returned from their summer break, Leona Alleslev decided to leave the Liberals for the Conservatives.
Alleslev, who represents Aurora-Oak Ridges- Richmond Hill, cited concerns over the government’s handling of the economy, foreign affairs and trading relationships as reasons for crossing the Commons floor.
It’s the first floor crossing the Liberals have faced under Justin Trudeau’s leadership.
Tory Leader Andrew Scheer says Alleslev, like many who voted for Trudeau in the last election, now realizes the prime minister’s not equipped to deal with the ”challenges of our time.”
