Robin Leach, the TV host whose voice oozed the opulence of the 1980s, has died.
Born in London, where he began as a print journalist, first in the U.K. and then U.S., Leach was best known for his syndicated TV show ”Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” which ran from 1984-1995.
Who can forget his signature signoff, hoping viewers would have ”champagne wishes and caviar dreams”.
He also helped launch ”Entertainment Tonight,” and ”Food Network”.
Some famous friends are paying tribute on social media.
Celine Dion posting on Twitter, ”Saddened to hear the news that Robin Leach has passed away. He was a thoughtful and considerate man, and a great supporter of the entertainment scene in Las Vegas,” where Leach lived.
In a 2016 interview Leach said,”It’s been a good life, and it’s always been a good life. I have been rewarded very nicely.”
