The parent company of Nabisco has redesigned the packing of its ‘Barnum’s Animals’ crackers following pressure from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has been protesting the use of animals in circuses for over 30 years.
The new boxes, now in American stores, keeps the familiar red and yellow colouring and ‘Barnum’s Animals’ lettering.
Instead of showing the animals in cages though, the new packaging features a zebra, elephant, lion, giraffe and gorilla wandering in the open.
Canadian boxes already had a different design and are not affected.
