The Ontario government says it’s taking immediate steps to challenge the constitutionality of Ottawa’s carbon tax at the Ontario Court of Appeal.

”The federal carbon tax will have its day in court,” said Attorney General Caroline Mulroney.
”But it is already on trial among the families who will be forced to pay more for gas, home heating and everything else if the federal government gets its way.”
This challenge is in addition to the province’s decision to join a similar legal challenge launched by Saskatchewan.
Environment Minister Rod Phillips says the federal government’s decision to ease carbon pricing plans, after hearing from Canadian industries that the tax would affect their international competitiveness, amounts to an admission ”carbon taxes are not effective.”
