This year’s Kennedy Center Honours will salute music legends Cher, composer Phillip Glass, country music’s Reba McIntyre and jazz great Wayne Shorter with a special award for “Hamilton”.
The honour being accorded “Hamilton” marks the first-time a specific piece of art and the first time a contemporary work has been so recognized.
The musical is playing at the Kennedy Center through mid-September. The Kennedy Center Honours Gala is planned for December 2nd. “Hamilton” will be coming to Toronto as part of the 2019-20 Mirvish subscription season.
