Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders says there’s ”no evidence to support claims” by the Islamic State that it was responsible for the mass shooting in Greektown.
His statement goes on to say all areas of the police service have been involved in the investigation and that it’s received assistance from law enforcement ”at every level,” but that at this point, ”we have no evidence to support these claims.”
Saunders stressed accurate information will only be released by the police.
A prominent Canadian researcher of Islamic extremism and terrorism, Amarnath Amarasingam, says if there was any clear link with ISIS, the RCMP would have taken over the investigation.
29-year-old Faisal Hussain died Sunday after killing an 18-year-old woman, 10-year-old girl and wounding 13 along the Danforth.
