In what can only be described as a timely move, Toronto City Council is preparing to debate its long term gun violence strategy when the final council meeting of this term resumes this morning.

The founder of the “Zero Gun Violence Movement,” Lewis March, suspects the mass shooting on the Danforth Sunday night will get more Torontonians involved in the debate.

Two people, an 18-year old woman and a 10-year old girl, were killed and 13 others were wounded when a gunman opened fire in the Danforth-Logan area of Toronto’s Greektown.

The motion being debated today includes more surveillance, enforcement and intervention as part of a suite of sweeping new changes.
