Former Toronto police chief Bill Blair, the government’s point person on marijuana legalization, is now minister of border security and organized crime reduction.
He’s also managing the controversial issue of irregular migration and asylum seekers crossing into Canada from the U.S.
Hamilton MP Filomena Tassi is the new minister for seniors while Dominic LeBlanc is intergovernmental affairs minister.
Deputy Conservative Leader Lisa Raitt feels the shuffle’s ”a desperate attempt to hit that reset button.”
Before the shuffle there were 30 cabinet ministers, including Trudeau, evenly split by gender.
Now there are 35 members, including the prime minister, with 18 men and 17 women.
