There is a brand new version of an “Anne of Green Gables” musical making its debut this summer in the United States.

“Anne of Green Gables – A New Folk Rock Musical” premiers July 5th at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival in Auburn, New York.

The show, featuring Prince Edward Island’s favourite fictional character focuses on Anne’s imaginings in the tight-knit community of Avonlea.

The show was written by two New York City playwrights neither of whom have ever been to Prince Edward Island,

One of them grew up reading the Lucy Maude Montgomery classics and is planning to visit P.E.I. in August and hopes to bring the show to Canada after its run in Finger Lakes.
