Doug Ford is losing momentum, while Andrea Horwath is gaining support.

With just over 2 weeks until the Ontario election, Horwath’s New Democrats are neck and neck with Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives, according to a new opinion poll.

The Abacus Data survey gives Ford’s PCs 35 percent decided voter support, just ahead of Horwath’s NDPs at 34 percent with Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals in third place at 24 percent support.

Meantime, Ford is joining the Liberals in criticizing the New Democrats for making a $1.4-billion dollar accounting mistake in their platform.

Doug Ford questions how it will affect the list of NDP promises.

“I’m glad that someone’s shedding light on the $1.4-billion that the NDP said they had, they obviously can’t do their math properly, and what’s concerning is who’s this affecting?” Ford asked.

Horwath admitted over the weekend that her party counted a $700-million reserve fund as revenue rather than as an expense. Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne says Horwath has a responsibility to correct the error.

The numbers have since been fixed in the online version of the New Democrats’ platform, but Wynne said the issue goes deeper.

Horwath meantime continues to insist the party will keep its spending promises, even as the error affects deficit projections for several years.

Both Andrea Horwath and Kathleen Wynne have campaign stops in Toronto on Tuesday. Doug Ford begins his day in Toronto before two scheduled events in Pickering.
