Doug Ford’s giving it to Premier Kathleen Wynne over hydro again.
This time the Tory leader claims Hydro One’s $6.7-billion deal to buy American energy company Avista includes ”golden parachutes” for 13 executives, if they’re fired without cause.
Ford says the potential severance could be $50-million.
“This makes my blood boil when I hear stories like this because unlike Kathleen Wynne, I talk to real people every single day.  I see your struggles and I feel your frustrations,” said Ford.
Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault refuted the claim in a statement.
”Hydro One customers have not paid one penny to US hydro executives at Avista.  Nor will they in the future.
Doug Ford doesn’t seem to know what he’s talking about, which is troubling from a self-described sound businessman.  Either that or he’s deliberately misleading people.  Regardless, this is a flat out lie.”
Thibeault says the deal will benefit Ontarians by making Hydro One more profitable.
The Avista takeover’s expected to close later this year.
