The latest poll suggests the outcome of the June Ontario election will come down to which leader – rather than which party – can win voters over – with Andrea Horwath the top challenger to Doug Ford.
An online poll conducted by the research firm Leger shows a quarter of respondents believe the Tory leader would make the best premier – 20 percent think it’s the NDP leader – and 12 percent chose the Liberal leader and current premier, Kathleen Wynne.
At the same time, when asked if Ford and Horwath have what it takes to lead the province – more respondents said Horwath did – at 35 percent to Ford’s 30.
And Horwath rated higher than both rivals on characteristics such as competence, trustworthiness, and alignment with the core values of residents.
When it comes to the parties though, the poll shows the Tories still in the lead – with 43 percent voter support – and with New Democrats and Liberals tied at 26 percent.
