The Iranian photo journalist and Magnum photographer know simply as “Abbas” has died suddenly in Paris.
His full name was Abbas Attar. He had a career that spanned six decades and was known for his intense photos of wars and revolutions.
Abbas joined the prestigious Magnum Photos cooperative in 1981 after documenting the Iranian Islamic Revolution. He spent the next 17 years traveling and chronicling the world in voluntary exile from his homeland.
Abbas Attar was 74.
