Gas prices continue to go up in the GTA. As of Friday morning, most stations are posting a $1.35.9 a litre for regular.

Petroleum analyst Dan McTeague is forecasting another 1 cent a litre increase for Saturday, with another penny a litre possible for Sunday.

Earlier this spring, McTeague explained that pump prices go up as companies switch from winter to summer blends. But he told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer on Thursday, there’s another reason for higher prices.

“This time last year, oil was selling for $50 U.S. a barrel, today it’s roughly $69 a barrel. So there’s a big difference. That $19 a barrel difference makes up for what the Canadian exchange difference of about 13 or 14 cents a litre,” McTeague explained.

You can find gas cheaper by checking out the Toronto Gas Prices website. The average Toronto price for regular is just over $1.31 a litre.
