The hearing condition that’s forced superstar Celine Dion to cancel a string of performances could be causing an echo effect that’s interfering with her speaking or singing.

The condition is called Patulous Eustachian tube, a disorder in which the channel that runs between the middle ear and back of the nose and throat stays open rather than closed as is normal. Celine says she will require “a minimally invasive surgical procedure.”

Celine’s Las Vegas performances have been cancelled from March 27th to April 18th.

The Quebec native, who turns 50 on March 30th, had to cancel numerous shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas in January due to what she then described as “congestion and irritation of the vocal chords due to a lingering cold.” Celine is now expected to resume performing on May 22nd.
