Justin Trudeau is giving Canadians some new insight into the NAFTA renegotiations.

Speaking to Algoma steel workers when he visited Sault Ste. Marie today, the prime minister was asked about relations with our southern neighbour, the threat of tariffs on steel and aluminum and the North American Free Trade Agreement talks.

Trudeau said the U.S. has decided it wants to get a deal done quicker which is good.

”The challenge they face is that we’re there at the table, we’re contributing, but we’re not just going to be bowled over by them,” said the prime minister.

“We’re pushing back a little bit on some of the things we think might not be the right … suggestions, which is what people would expect.  We’re standing up for ourselves.”

It was the latest stop on his tariff reassurance tour which also included Hamilton yesterday.
