Pen America has awarded the late science fiction author Ursula Le Guin its $10,000 prize for best essay writing.
Le Guin was honoured last night in New York for her work “No Time to Spare.” She died last month at the age of 88.
In addition, lifetime achievement awards were given to Edmund White, who won the PEN/Saul Bellow Award for American fiction, and Edna O’Brien, winner of the PEN/Nabokov Award for international literature.
