The Toronto District School Board will lower all flags to half-staff Thursday and Friday in memory of the 17 who killed in a mass shooting at a Florida high school.
Gun fire erupted yesterday afternoon at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, just north of Fort Lauderdale. 17 died, a dozen others were wounded.
Police identify the shooter, as 19-year old Nikolas Cruz. He’d been expelled from the school and had posted disturbing material on social media before the rampage. Police say the shooter, who is in custody, was armed with at least one rifle and multiple magazines of ammunition.
Prime Minister Trudeau has tweeted his condolences to the families and friends of the victims, saying “Canadians have you in our hearts.”
