FORMER AGO DIRECTOR DIES AT 91

It’s been disclosed that William Withrow, the man who transformed the Art Galley of Ontario over 3 decades as director, has died at the age of 91.
Withrow became director at the age of 35 and over the years turned what was then the Toronto Art Gallery from a service organization for the city’s art societies into a curatorially run professional museum.
Withrow died at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre January 9th.  No cause of death of given.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Walker Court at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Sunday, April 8 at 6 pm.
