Fans of the Canadian opera company will be excited to hear the upcoming season includes Tchaikovsky’s classic “Eugene Onegin”
Also on the agenda: the world premiere of a new production by Rufus Wainwright and Daniel MacIvor. “Hadrian,” is Wainwright’s second opera. It’s described as “a poetic meditation on the ways that love overturns worlds – both political and personal.” Canadian tenor Ben Heppner is coming out of retirement to make a cameo in that production which is scheduled for October at Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
Other shows in the 2018/19 season include Richard Strauss’s “Elektra,” Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte,” and Puccini’s “La Boheme.”
