Former governor-general Michaelle Jean is among Canadians who are firing back at President Donald Trump for vulgar language he’s reported to have used to describe Haiti and countries in Africa during a meeting Thursday on immigration.

”It is such an insult before humanity. For the first representative of the United States of America to speak in such a manner is quite troubling and offensive,” Jean added in a statement.
Speaking in London, Ontario after a cabinet retreat, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he would not ”opine on what the president may or may not have said” but called Canada a country of openness and respect.
Former prime minister Kim Campbell called Trump’s remarks ”abominable and ignorant”.
