Mayor John Tory’s SmartTrack plan tops the agenda as Toronto City Councillors begin their final meeting of the year.

“If I want this to become a city where transit is the default option, not driving a car, so we have to make more transit available,” Tory previewed.

Councillors are deciding the design of 6 Smart Track stations including Liberty Village, home of the ZoomerPlex.

Also on the agenda, councillors are being asked to advance a work plan for the $1.7 billion Rail Deck Park, which is being considered for the rail lines between Bathurst and Blue Jays Way.

Also up for discussion, the mayor’s move to open 400 more shelter spaces for the homeless, launching an office for Indigenous Affairs in the city, and new rules for short term rentals like airbnb.
