The holiday R.I.D.E. spot check campaign is now underway and this year there is a special focus on drivers who may be high on drugs.
So far this year Toronto Police have laid more than one thousand impaired charges and 60-drug impaired charges.
Police believe a drug impaired driver is just as dangerous as any other impaired driver and faces the same consequences.

Roughly half a million Canadians have admitted to driving in the past year after smoking marijuana and those numbers are expected to increase following the legalization of recreational marijuana next year.
