Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made a formal apology in the House of Commons – concerning the so-called “gay purge.”

It follows the Liberal government introducing a bill to expunge gay sex convictions from the books – which came about at a time in Canada when homosexual acts were illegal.

A clearly emotional Trudeau also said he hopes a federal apology – for decades of government perpetuated discrimination against members of the L-G-B-T-Q community – will allow the healing process to begin.

More than $100-million dollars has been allocated to compensate members of the military and other federal agencies – whose careers were sidelined or ended due to their sexual orientation.
