Go ahead say it ”Let it snow.”
City of Toronto officials say they’re ready.
$90-million is committed to keep things moving on the roads and sidewalks this winter.
There are over 1,500 personnel on standby 24/7, ready to operate the 600 snowplows, 300 sidewalk plows and 200 salt trucks.
As always the top priority is to clear the main roads first.
After that, crews head to local roads which are usually cleared 14 to 16 hours after the end of a storm.
In the heart of the city, homeowners are required to clear sidewalks within 12 hours of a snowfall.
You can track where plows and salt trucks are and which roads have been done using the online tracing map PlowTO.
And when the new off-ramp from the eastbound Gardiner Expressway to Lower Simcoe Street opens in January, it’ll use the first ever automated de-icing system, which can be started with the push of a button from a remote location.
