The city’s officially started sharing traffic data with the traffic and navigation app Waze.
In making the formal announcement, Mayor John Tory says the new arrangement is ”one-stop shopping” for those behind the wheel.
”By using Waze all motorists will have access to the city of Toronto’s data in real time and be able to avoid road closures, construction and traffic jams.”
Tory adds the city can use the information from Waze to make data-driven infrastructure decisions.
There are more than 560,000 active Waze app users in the Toronto area.
For those who have not yet tried it, the app consistently recommends the fastest routes based on real-time driving and data from millions of users.
