Back-to-work legislation to end the colleges faculty strike has not passed for the second time in less than 24 hours.
It needs the approval of all three parties.
But the New Democrats have blocked it – again.
Speaking outside the legislature Friday, Advanced Education Minister Deb Matthews could not contain her disappointment.
”It is outrageous.  It is despicable.  It is unconscionable.  I am enormously disappointed.”
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says her party needs to examine the legislation first.
”The government will get their bill through because they’re a majority and they’ll get their bill through, but, we do have to do our due diligence … we’re going to review it (the legislation) through the evening and we’ll be ready to debate it tomorrow (Saturday).”
Should it pass this weekend, it’s expected the approximately 500,000 students could be back in class as early as Tuesday.
