While computer usage remains high among the young, Statistics Canada reports usage shot up in the past three years among those 65-to-74-year-olds – 65 to 81%.
And for those over 75, it jumped from 35 to 50%.
More than three-quarters of Canadians had a smartphone last year.
A breakdown shows 69% of those aged 55-to-64 have one and 18% of Canadians 75 and older.
But according to Statistics Canada in the just released report, there’s a downside, pointing technology ”blurs the boundaries by keeping one connected at all times and in all places,” and that there’s a price being paid in work-life balance.
Between 2008 and last year, the proportion of Canadians satisfied or very satisfied with work-life balance declined 10% to 68%.
