A group of unionized employees at Canadian Blood Services in Ontario – has given its bargaining team a strong strike mandate.
The 850 workers represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union had rejected a tentative collective agreement – that the team had negotiated in September.
The union has asked the provincial labour ministry to appoint a conciliation officer.
An OP-SEU spokesman says the employees who voted yesterday were 89 per cent in favour of a strike – if both sides can’t reach an agreement.
A Canadian Blood Services official in Toronto says the earliest possible date a walkout could happen is January 2nd.
