The trial of two former senior provincial political aides is hearing from an IT consultant allegedly hired to wipe clean hard drives in ex-premier Dalton McGuinty’s office.
Peter Faist is not charged in the case but told court he signed an immunity deal before giving a statement to provincial police investigators.
The prosecution alleges he was hired to wipe clean about 20 hard drives in the premier’s office in 2013.
Faist’s common-law spouse, Laura Miller is one of two charged in connection with the deletion of emails about the Liberal government’s decision to pull the plug on gas plants in Oakville and Mississauga before the election in 2011.
McGuinty’s former chief of staff, David Livingston, and Miller, who was his deputy, have each pleaded not guilty to break of trust, mischief and unlawful use of a computer.
