Toronto has released the final details of the pilot project to give Streetcars a clear run on King Street between Jarvis and Bathurst and motorists are unlikely to be cheering.
The King car is the TTC’s busiest streetcar route with 65,000 passengers daily compared with 20,000 traveling in cars.

The pilot, which begins next month, will be monitored for the time it takes streetcars to get across the downtown zone, whether ridership goes up as a result and the impact on motorists, businesses and neighbouring roads.

TTC CEO Andy Byford says if the  King Street pilot is deemed a success, it could be potentially considered on other routes.
