The prime minister urged lawmakers to embrace the rights of workers and women, saying the challenge lies in ensuring everyone benefits, adding that can only be done by ”pursuing an ambitious, progressive vision of what the future can — and should — look like.”
Touching on the ongoing renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement, Trudeau said the economies of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico have benefited greatly from trade over the past quarter century, but that support for this growth agenda depends on ”the fruits of trade being fairly shared.  So we must pursue trade agreements that are win, win, win, helping workers across North America achieve better standards, wages and working conditions.”
