To that end, National Defence and Veteran Affairs Canada have released a prevention strategy.
Veterans Affairs Minister Seamus O’Regan says it will not ”prevent every suicide,” but that the aim’s to ”reduce risks” and increase ”resilience among our comrades.”
He adds nobody has all the answers, no strategy’s going to solve all the problems but that this is a ”big step forward.”
Chief of the Defence Staff, General Jonathan Vance, Canada’s top soldier, says his intent’s on reducing military-related suicides to zero.
