The Ontario Provincial Police will launch another long weekend safety campaign Friday. It’s called “Operation Impact’. It will target aggressive and distracted drivers, and following yesterday’s van rollover on the QEW in Burlington, will also be focused on seat belt use.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a number of people were ejected from a minivan that rolled several times and landed on its roof. Several people went to hospital, two of them in critical condition.
A total of eight people were injured.
All Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW were closed at Guelph Line and the Fort Erie bound lanes were closed at Walkers Line for several hours.
