GIRARD'S "HOCHELAGA" TO REP CANADA FOR BEST FOREIGN-LANGUAGE OSCAR

The historical drama Hochelaga has been chosen as Canada’s selection for the best foreign-language film category – at next year’s Oscars.

Francois Girard’s movie will be submitted by Telefilm Canada for consideration – at a news conference in Montreal.

The finalists will be announced in December – with five films will making the short-list in January for the 90th Academy Awards on March 4th, 2018.

Canada did well in the past – with finalists in the category three years in a row – between 2010 and 2012.

Denys Arcand’s The Barbarian Invasions, in 2004 was the last Canadian entry – to win best foreign-language film.
