Ward 20 Councillor Joe Cressy says the Province of Ontario needs to declare an emergency over the opiod crisis.
The province has already indicated it will do more about the crisis, but Cressy says since the city it losing an average of one person a day to over doses and since overdoses are increasing, he says it’s time to do more.  He says if the Ontario Government were to declare an “Opiod Emergency” funds to fight the fight would flow more quickly.
Cressy will take his demands to today’s Board of Health meeting.  The first order of business is a report from Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health on the city’s “Overdose Action Plan.”  The board meets at 1 o’clock.
