With the potential for record breaking temperatures this weekend, the city’s splash pads will be back in operation. Toronto’s 93 splash pads were mostly turned off for the year on Sunday September 17th, but Councillor Josh Matlow says staff have agreed to turn them back on for the unseasonably warm weather on the weekend. They will then be turned off on Monday.
Councillor Matlow also broke some good news when he joined Jane Brown on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer yesterday. After the air conditioning was turned off September 15th in the apartments at 44 Jackes Avenue in the Yonge and St. Clair area, the owner has agreed to turn the AC back on.
“The property management, Bentall Kennedy, has now agreed to turn the AC on,” Matlow explained, “I’ve been on the phone with every landlord and property manager I know, just trying to convince them to do the right thing and so kudos to Bentall Kennedy for listening to us.”
Both Councillor Matlow and Mayor John Tory are promising to review the city bylaw, which states between September 15th and June 1st, landlords must keep the heat at or above 21 celsius.
