The Canadian Automobile Association is telling about 10,000 of its members – that they may have had sensitive data compromised – by the massive Equifax cybersecurity breach.

That’s because the CAA was a partner with Equifax – on the association’s  identity protection program – which began in March 2015 and was terminated on July 1st –  just weeks before Equifax discovered the hack on July 29th.

The program asked members to register their personal information – such as credit cards, banking information and email addresses- with the option of providing a social insurance number.

CAA says it’s been trying – since the first reports of the Equifax breach – to find out if the cyber-crime affects any of the approximately 10,000 members who signed up for the program.

But CAA says Equifax hasn’t provided any answers as yet.
