TIFF will “serve” one of the most epic rivalries in sports history – to kick off the 42nd annual Toronto International  Film Festival.
The world premier of Borg/McEnroe has been announced as the opening night gala movie at Roy Thomson Hall on September 7th.

The film chronicles the story of a match-up that changed the sport of tennis forever – and stars Shia LaBeouf as John McEnroe and Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason as Bjorn Borg.

Janus Metz directed and Ronnie Sandahl wrote the film.

Last week TIFF unveiled the first slate of films for the 42nd annual celebration of cinema – which runs through September 17th.
