Shortly after firing FBI director James Comey, President Donald Trump mentioned the possibility recordings of his conversations with Comey may exist in a Twitter post.
”James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaving to the press!”
Trump took to social media Thursday saying he does not have any secret recordings but has no idea if there are any out there somewhere.
”With all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea whether there are ‘tapes’ or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings.”
Asked during a White House press briefing if the president had any regret over suggesting the possibility of recordings back in May, spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, ”I don’t think so.”
And she could not say why Trump waited 41 days, despite frequently being asked to give a definitive answer.
