The National Film Board of Canada has announced an ambitious plan to “redefine its relationship with Indigenous Peoples.”

The three-year plan will immediately ensure that 15 per cent of production spending is on indigenous-directed projects.

The NFB also says it wants to make sure that four per cent of its workforce –  identifies as indigenous by 2025.

The film board says it has produced more than 280 titles by indigenous filmmakers – since 1968 – and it’s working with an indigenous advisory group on developing and executing the three-year plan.
