They gathered at the 519 Community Centre on Church Street in Toronto last night to remember those murdered at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub a year ago Monday.
About a thousand people held candles and stood in silence as the names of the 49 people who died were read aloud at the vigil. Los Angeles resident Steve Belke decided to skip some business meeting in Toronto to attend the vigil saying it made him feel better about problems in his home country.
In Orlando, church bells tolled 49 times, a giant rainbow flag was hung from a county government building and various ceremonies were held as people remembered the victims of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
