Less than a week after 5-year-old Xavier Morgan was hit and killed by a vehicle after falling off his bike, while riding along the Martin Goodman Trial on Lakeshore near Jameson, the city’s started a safety review of its trail system.
Councillor Jaye Robinson, chair of the Public Works committee, says this incident’s a top priority that’ll be dealt with swiftly.
”The review will take place this week … we will wrap that up Friday and we will be looking at some type of installation and implementation shortly thereafter and sooner versus later.’
Avid cyclist and one of Toronto’s most influential cycling advocates, critical injury lawyer Patrick Brown told Zoomer Radio’s ”Fight Back” with Libby Znaimer, there should be a barrier of some kind where this happened.
The general manager of Transportation Services says a barrier is one possible solution.
