He may have lost his wife a few years ago, but a World War II Norwegian sailor has been reunited with a letter she wrote him – 72-years-ago.
It was found recently in a wall during the renovation of Melissa Fahy’s Westfield, New Jersey home.
Postmarked May 1945, it was written by Virginia Christoffersen to her husband Rolf, who was overseas.

She was pregnant and told him how much she missed him.
Fahy decided to try and find the Christoffersens and forward the letter.
Turning to Facebook, the couple’s son was located in California.
He read the letter to his 96-year-old father.
Fahy says she couldn’t believe the love and admiration Virginia had for Rolf.
”It was really sweet to see that long-distance love.”
