Following a backlash over programming of Netflix films – the Cannes Film Festival says – beginning next year, only theatrically released movies will be accepted for its prestigious Palme d’Or competition.
For the first time this year – Cannes selected two films in its official competition from Netflix – which the National Federation of Film Distributors in France said were “endangering a whole ecosystem.”
