Conversations resume today on how best to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on Toronto streets.
A Vision Zero Road Safety Summit takes place this morning in the City of Toronto’s council chamber from 10:00 until noon.
Councillor Jaye Robinson, chair of the city’s public works and infrastructure committee, and staff from Toronto’s Transportation Services Division are hosting the event with key stakeholders to discuss safety initiatives and programs already in place. They will also discuss next steps toward a goal of bringing to zero the number of pedestrian fatalities and injuries.
This past January, both Jaye Robinson and Mayor John Tory announced plans for seniors safety zones in various areas of the city since a disproportionate number of older pedestrians are killed in traffic collisions.
