It’s never been suggested in the history of the Canadian Senate – until now.
The Senate’s ethics committee is recommending disgraced Toronto-area Conservative Senator Don Meredith be expelled for engaging in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

The committee’s report says Meredith has brought disrepute to himself and to the red chamber and that his misconduct has demonstrated he’s unfit to serve.
It also says his presence in the chamber would in itself discredit the institution.
The recommendation follows an explosive report from the Senate ethics officer earlier in the year.
Meredith has five sitting days to respond to the committee’s report, should he wish, so a vote on his fate cannot take place before next Tuesday at the earliest.
His lawyer says his client won’t have any immediate comment.
