Following nine consecutive deficits under the Ontario Liberals, Charles Sousa promises the one he’ll table later this month will be balanced.
The finance minister revealed during a speech to the Empire Club of Canada that he’d be bringing in a budget April 27.
Sousa says it’ll include a new tax credit for Zoomers 65 and older who use public transit, but offered no details.
”Over the next two weeks, as we take the final steps on our path to balance, my colleagues and I will be making a series of important announcements to help you and your family,” he said.

The finance minister has already indicated the budget will include measures to cool the GTA housing market, but in the speech said he’ll reveal some steps ”in the coming days.”
And next Tuesday, Sousa will meet with Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau and Mayor John Tory in Toronto to discuss possible solutions to the cost of housing.
