At the age of 77 the Queen of Can-Lit is enjoying a serious career renaissance that has her baffled.
Margaret Atwood says it’s “very weird!”  It’s what she calls a “moment.”
After writing more than 40 books of fiction, poetry, and critical essays, Atwood has been the talk of the international TV world lately with several upcoming adaptations of her work.  The most notable is “The Handmaid’s Tale”, adapted from her 1985 Governor General’s Award-winning dystopian novel and scheduled to air April 26th in the U-S And April 30th in Canada.
Libraries in the U-S are reporting long wait lists to borrow “The Handmaid’s Tale.”  The New York City library has 96 copies and a wait list of more than 500. The Chicago Public Library has 318 holds on 81 available ebooks.  The San Francisco Library system has 283 holds on 54 copies.
