Canadians are being urged by the nation’s top doctor to make sure their measles vaccinations are up to date especially for those planning to travel overseas this vacation season.

Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s interim chief public health officer, says in Europe, there are a number of countries experiencing cases.  Microbiologists call the it most contagious virus on the planet.

Toronto Pediatrician Dr. Dan Flanders says if you have had the measles you are immune.  However if you are 25 years of age or older and already inoculated you may need a booster shot.

If you aren’t sure about your status, you are urged to check with your doctor.
